A Thanksgiving Post –

Happy Thanksgiving! As usual, I’m amazed that it’s that time of year already. Why is it that it seems to come earlier every time?

Anyway, this year I want to remind myself that though we’ve set aside a holiday in order to give thanks, thankfulness isn’t some annual attitude that we’re called to practice on only on this special occasion – it is a disposition that should shape our lives every moment of the day.

With that said, here’s my list – the five things that I am most thankful for as we celebrate this day:

1). God’s faithfulness – it never ceases to amaze me.
2). The wisdom of my parents – True, I don’t always agree with them right away, but the older I get, the more I understand what they say and the more I am thankful for the things that they do.
3). My loving and understanding friends – God has blessed me with some pretty amazing people in my life!
4). Trials – It’s a strange thing to be thankful for, I know… but without them I wouldn’t learn the way that I do and I wouldn’t be as close to my Lord as I am.
5). This blog – Honestly, having this blog is a huge blessing to me. Even this post made me focus my mind on what I am most thankful for, rather than falling into the rut of my own complaints (which is all too easy to do).

So what are you thankful for on this Thanksgiving day? I have no doubt that the Lord has blessed you in some way; don’t forget to say “Thank you.”

    • Thank you(: I must say I don’t always realize how smart they are… usually I don’t until a short time (or long time) after they’ve demonstrated their wisdom to me. Thanks for commenting, Janene! 🙂

Thankful, of course, for life, health, a job, family and friends. But you know what? I’m really thankful for the blogging buddies God has sent my way in the last few months. And you, my dear namesake, are one of those I prize dearly.

Here’s hoping that you had a great Thanksgiving!

    • Awww…. I’m so thankful for the blogging buddies that the Lord has put in my life as well, and that includes you. I’m so glad to have the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas through what we write(: I had a great Thanksgiving! I hope you did as well!

Today, I started out listing my most treasured blessings. They are as follows:
My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
    My wife and kids
My family and friends and especially the church family which I serve as music and youth pastor.

Because I minister to teens, I am so excited to learn you are 16 years old. I look forward to reading more of your posts! Happy Thanksgiving!
