Over 8,000 Women And He Knows Them All –

Last weekend, I attended True Woman ’12. Let me tell you… it was wonderful! In the next few weeks, you’ll be hearing a lot from me about this conference. My heart has been filled (along with my notebook) and I am anxious to share some of the wisdom and encouragement that I found in this event.

Today, I’ve been considering all the people I walked past or sat next to last weekend. Over 8,000 women at this event and each of them have their own story. You walk past them in the hall and you’d never know the details of their life – their trials and triumphs, their struggles and doubts.

Over a year and a half of dealing with an invisible illness and these thoughts are just now strolling through my mind? I could walk into a grocery store and no one would ever suspect that I suffer from chronic fatigue. I might have dark circles under my eyes sometimes, I may have been incredibly thin at some points, I may look exhausted… but anybody who doesn’t know me has no reason to assume that I’m chronically ill. It’s a blessing and a curse, I suppose. A blessing because I can still “fit in” and it’s not the kind of illness that makes me a spectacle wherever I go. But a curse because no one knows unless I explain and sometimes that just gets frustrating.

So as I walked past thousands of women I had never seen before, I wondered just what was going on in their lives. As I saw women brought to tears by the words of the speakers, I could only guess the things that they were struggling with. But God knew.

Over 8,000 women and God knew each one. Not only that, but He knew each one better than any of their closest friends. He knew the very depth of their hearts.

The truth is, tomorrow I could walk into a room filled with only ladies from that conference, and I wouldn’t even recognize them. In a sea of faces, only a few became familiar within the short time I was there.

And that’s why I am so amazed by the fact that God, in all His glory, knows each one of those faces perfectly. Not only that, but He has His hand in each of their lives and they are walking in His amazing providence – whether they realize it or not.

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. -Psalms 139:1-6

    • It was so great to be there in person! Glad you were able to watch on the live stream, though! What a great resource to have available to those unable to attend. And just think of all the women listening who weren’t at the conference! Even more women that God knows so well! Isn’t He amazing? 🙂
      Blessings,
      Rachel
